This simple chocolate pear dessert is perfect for unexpected guests. The pears give the chocolate cake a delicious flavor. It can be served either warm or chilled.

Method:

  1. Preheat oven to 180 degrees C. The baking paper should be greased and lined with a loaf pan measuring 27cm by 11.5cm by 6.5cm (base measurement). This will hold 8 cups. Follow the instructions on the cake mix packet. Pour 1/3 of the cake batter into the prepared loaf pan. Place pears on top of the cake batter. Spread the remaining cake batter over the pears.
  2. Bake the loaf for 50-60 minutes or until it is cooked through. Test with a skewer in the middle. After 10 minutes, transfer the loaf to a cooling rack. Sprinkle with icing and serve
